Vietnam: an adventure on two wheels
between landscapes and traditions

My trip to Vietnam was different from the others; I made the instinctive decision to do it by motorcycle, and I would do it 100 more times. I was already confident in traveling alone and ready for a journey more focused on self-discovery than on the places around me. I wanted to enjoy the moment, so I didn’t write down everything I did, and since three years have passed, I can’t remember how many days I spent in each place, the exact kilometers I traveled, or how many hours of travel there were. Therefore, I will write down my itinerary, specifying only the stops I made in chronological order.

  1. Ho Chi Minh – My journey starts from the second most important city in Vietnam. Here I visited the famous War Museum and the tunnels that the Vietnamese used to escape from the Americans and their allies. It is one of the most educational museums I have ever visited. This big city full of people has a lot to offer, and besides its history, it’s one of the places where I had the most fun overall. Bùi Viện is the street that lights up at night and turns into a true wonderland for those looking to have fun, with bars, nightclubs, restaurants, street vendors, food stalls, and hilarious balloons. Here I met the five girls (Julia, Nilo, Tania, Lærke, Katrine) with whom I decided to embark on my journey through Vietnam. Together we rode to the capital on our motorcycles, each following our own itinerary but always reuniting. So much happened! Click on the motorcycle below to learn more.

  2. Mui Ne – A residential town on the coast, with a beautiful port, windy beaches perfect for water sports like kitesurfing, and the famous white and red sand dunes.

  3. Dalat – Just getting there, you encounter breathtaking views among the mountains. It’s a paradise in the middle of nowhere, with lakes, rivers, waterfalls (here I tried canyoneering for the first time), and in the evening, you can enjoy some good street food at the night market.

  4. Nha Trang – A large coastal city where we wanted to relax, enjoying the beautiful beaches and a good Saigon beer.

  5. Hoi An – The colorful and famous, but above all my favorite, Hoi An, from where you can admire the walls of the ancient city of My Son.

  6. Da Nang – Unfortunately, we only had a quick stop, but we managed to enjoy the view of the Marble Mountains.

  7. Hue – The Imperial City, surrounded by the Perfume River, which can be admired from the famous Trang Tien Bridge. Here we also visited an abandoned amusement park with a beautiful view of Lake Thuy Thien.

  8. Phong Nha – A village in the mountains perfect for breaking up the motorcycle trip. Here we visited the beautiful underground caves accessible only by boat.

  9. Ninh Binh – We reached this wonderful country among the mountains, full of rivers, lakes, and caves, where I had one of the best pizzas cooked in Asia.

  10. Hanoi – The capital of Vietnam and the end of my motorcycle journey. I liked it more than Ho Chi Minh aesthetically, and it can also rival in terms of fun!

  11. Halong Bay – Among the 7 natural wonders of the world, and it is worth it. I went through an organized trip from my hostel in Hanoi, and thanks to them, I was able to have fun with beach volleyball, climbing, banana boat rides, karaoke, and improvised nightclubs.
